01SJ Biennial

Empire Drive-In was first commissioned for the 2010 01SJ Biennial in San Jose, California. The project featured artists including Petra Cortright, Zoë Keating, Robert Hodgin, JODI, Jeremy Bailey, Constant Duilart, Stephanie Rothenberg, Rick Prelinger, Todd Chandler, and Dark Dark Dark.

This first iteration of the project was made possible by Steve Dietz, Jaime Austin, 01SJ Staff, Nick Jafari (Vince’s Foreign Auto Wreckers), Popeye, Amir (American Imports), Mark Chandler, Marybeth Burton, Caryl Kientz, Nick Binbeutel, Mike Ross, Ryan Doyle, Megan Selie, Anthony Robert, Elissa Chandler, Dark Dark Dark, Harrison Bartlett, Jake, Spaz, Cyclecide, Angel Borrero, and many others.
